Professor Du Zhijiang Honored as One of Heilongjiang Province's "the Most Beautiful Sci-Tech Worker"

On May 28, ahead of the 10th National Science and Technology Workers' Day, the Publicity Department of Heilongjiang Provincial Committee and other five institutions released the inspiring stories of the Most Beautiful Sci-tech Workers to encourage dedication to science and technology. Provincial leading officials including Liu Hui, Wang Lan and Pang Da attended the ceremony and presented awards to the laureates. Prof. Du Zhijiang from the School of Mechatronics Engineering at HIT was named one of Heilongjiang Province's "Most Beautiful Science and Technology Workers".

Prof. Du Zhijiang also serves as Chairman of Harbin Sagebot Intelligent Medical Equipment Co., Ltd., leading his research team to achieve breakthroughs in core technologies of surgical robots and has advanced the commercialization of high-end research achievements of laparoscopic surgical robots. His company has been accredited as a National High-tech Enterprise, "Little Giant" Enterprise and a National Enterprise with Superior Intellectual Property Rights. The company was also listed among Forbes China's New Unicorns of 2022. Prof. Du and his team has been undertaking the national-level Key Innovation Tasks for the New-Generation Artificial Intelligence Industry, the Pilot Project on 5G-enabled Healthcare Applications, and the Promotion and Application Program for High-end Medical Equipment. The company's "KangDuo" series of laparoscopic surgical robots has contributed to the domestic substitution of high-end surgical robotic systems, supporting both the security of China's high-end medical equipment industry and the protection of people's health.
