Dear Students:
Through a century of trials and triumphs, Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) has forged an unyielding spirit of rigorous standards and diligent practice. The School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, nurtured alongside HIT's century-long journey, has shouldered responsibility, pursued excellence, and achieved glory at every step.
Established in 1993 and tracing its roots to the Department of Electrical Machinery founded in 1920, our school stands as one of HIT's oldest and most distinguished institutions. Here, we have pioneered numerous firsts in China:
These national strategic assets have powered monumental achievements like the Shenzhou crewed missions, Chang'e lunar exploration, and Tianwen Mars probes. We remain steadfast in answering the call of the Party, the people, and national strategic needs, solidifying HIT's global reputation as a powerhouse in STEM and a global leader in aerospace.
As we chart a new century, the school is advancing strategic and foundational R&D projects in:
In fields such as robotics and mechatronics, advanced mechanical design, ultra-precision manufacturing, and micro/nano fabrication, we are tackling bottleneck challenges to accelerate breakthroughs in core technologies. Guided by President Xi Jinping's letter of congratulations to HIT, we are pioneering new models for cultivating exceptional talent. Initiatives like the Intelligent Robotics Honors Program immerse students in national strategic priorities from day one, fostering ambition and expertise under the mentorship of renowned scholars.
The new century beckons with boundless promise. Together with global talents and aspiring students, our faculty and students will embrace HIT's mission as the vanguard of aerospace, crafting more national strategic assets and nurturing more visionary leaders to write a brilliant new chapter in HIT's second century of excellence.
