Congratulations! Mechatronics Students Shine at the 7th Students International Olympiad on Mechanism and Machine Science (SIOMMS 2026)

Recently, the 7th Students International Olympiad on Mechanism and Machine Science (SIOMMS 2026) was successfully held in Weihai, China. Co‑organized by the International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science (IFToMM) and Shandong University, this prestigious global competition gathers outstanding young talents from top universities across the world.

A graduate team from the School of Mechatronics Engineering, HIT competed with elite university teams from China, Russia, Spain, and other countries and regions. Guided by Researcher Yu Haitao and Assistant Researcher Tian Baolin, the team consisting of postgraduate students Liu Jiaxing, Yang Xuecong, and Li Zhaoxu achieved remarkable results:

·        Second Prize in the Team Competition (4th place globally)

·        Liu Jiaxing: Individual Second Prize & Special Contribution Award

·        Yang Xuecong: Individual Third Prize & Special Contribution Award

The competition topics covered core areas of the theory of machines and mechanisms, including the kinematics of planar and spatial mechanisms, mechanism analysis, cam mechanism kinematics, gear transmissions, balancing of rotating masses, and mechanical regulation. It fully tests participants’ professional knowledge foundation and comprehensive engineering capabilities.
