A foreign expert from our college has been awarded the Chinese Government Friendship Award

On September 30, the 2024 Presentation Ceremony of the Chinese Government Friendship Award was grandly convened at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. State Councilor Shen Yiqin presided over the event and bestowed the awards upon the honored foreign experts. As the highest recognition bestowed by the Chinese government to foreign professionals who have made exceptional contributions to China’s modernization drive and reform and opening-up, the Chinese Government Friendship Award carries profound significance. In 2024, a total of 100 foreign experts were named recipients of this prestigious honor, with Professor Chizhik Sergei, Chair Professor at our school, among the distinguished awardees. At the ceremony, three award-winning representatives delivered acceptance speeches. Notably, Professor Sergei took the floor first, marking him as the first foreign expert from our institution to receive this esteemed award and the first to address the gathering as a recipient representative.

Professor Chizhik Sergei said in his speech, I am extremely honored to receive the 2024 Chinese Government Friendship Award, a lofty honor bestowed by the Chinese government upon foreign experts. I would like to express my gratitude to my partner, Harbin Institute of Technology. This award is an affirmation of the fruitful achievements in educational cooperation between our two countries in recent years. At present, a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation is unfolding in depth. I hope that both sides will continue to deepen international cooperation, constantly broaden the areas of cooperation, and work hand in hand to make even greater contributions to world technological progress and human development.
